Age Group: 5-18 years old

Performance Categories

Piano

Strings (Violin, Viola & Cello)

Open to all pianists of all levels and backgrounds.

Open to violin, viola and cello performers,

Age Divisions

Junior: 5–8 years old

Intermediate: 9–12 years old

Senior: 13–18 years old

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

Participants may perform one or two pieces of their own choice.

The programme should be appropriate to the participant’s age and level of study.

Suggested Maximum Performance Time

  • Junior Division (5–8 years) Up to 3 minutes
  • Intermediate Division (9–12 years) Up to 5 minutes
  • Senior Division (13–18 years) Up to 7 minutes

Repertoire may include:

  •  Baroque 
  •  Classical 
  •  Romantic
  •  Contemporary 
  • Traditional and Folk Music

ABRSM and Trinity examination repertoire is welcome.

Performances may be presented from memory or with music.

The adjudicator reserves the right to stop performances exceeding the stated time limit.

 

Performers are encouraged to choose repertoire that best displays their musicality, technical ability, and stylistic understanding. All pieces must be performed from memory, although exceptions may be granted for complex contemporary works upon prior request.
